The Rise Of Women In Business (Infographic)

By  |  0 Comments

I am pleased to share with you today this infographic sent to me by Jake from Merchant Money, about the rise of women in business. This focuses on the particular case of the UK, and illustrates interesting facts:

  • In the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis, over 80% of newly self-employed people have been women
  • However only 15% of business owners are female (vs 60% for male)
  • Men are twice as likely to become entrepreneurs than woman
  • Among the reasons that discourage women to start a business, the lack of working capital and fear come on top
  • As a self-employed, women can more easily structure their work schedule around their family life. For examples, working from 9am to 3pm, then from 10pm to midnight, could be a more suitable option than the regular 9-5 shift commonly imposed on professionals.
